The United Nations has declared 2010 as the International Year of Biodiversity (IYB) to celebrate the diversity of life on earth and safeguard it for our future. To coincide with the IYB the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has launched The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species TM “Species of the day”.
